Careers related Learning

Intent for Careers and aspirations at Grange View

Our aim is to provide high-quality careers-related learning that inspires children and broadens their understanding of the world of work. At Grange View, we integrate careers education throughout all our subjects, helping pupils see how what they learn connects to future opportunities.

We want our children to be confident, curious lifelong learners who develop skills like communication and teamwork to achieve their God-given potential. Careers-related learning encourages pupils to keep their options open and prepares them for success in all areas of life. By embedding careers themes across the curriculum, we help children understand the diversity of people and jobs in our society and inspire them to aim high for their future.

Did you know…
Children begin forming their aspirations as early as ages 3 to 4, and by age 6, many are already starting to rule out certain career paths. That means by the time children are with us in Key Stage 2, some may have already narrowed their ideas about the future.
At Grange View C.E. Primary, we see it as our role to broaden those horizons, inspire ambition, and introduce children to the wide variety of opportunities that lie ahead.

We believe every child has the potential to flourish. Our aim is to nurture their aspirations and equip them with the knowledge, experiences, and skills they need to achieve their goals in life. Through our careers-related learning, we help children understand the world of work and develop essential life skills.

Our careers learning offer includes:

  • Real-life connections: Linking classroom learning to real careers so children see the purpose and possibilities behind what they learn.

  • Exposure to a wide range of jobs: Providing opportunities to explore a variety of careers across different sectors.

  • Money management education: Teaching children how to make informed choices about money and finances.

  • Tailored experiences: Shaping opportunities based on children’s interests and local Labour Market Information (LMI).

  • Tracking aspirations: Helping children reflect on their ambitions and providing support to guide future choices.

  • Exploring pathways: Introducing different routes into employment, including further education, apprenticeships, and vocational roles.

  • Building core skills: Developing communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities to prepare children for future success.
