Religious Education

Intent for R.E.

At Grange View Religious Education is taught in accordance with the Northumberland LA Syllabus and guidance from the Newcastle and Durham Diocese, and reflects the distinctive and inclusive ethos of our school. As a Church of England school, Religious Education carries a high status within our curriculum to ensure we offer our children unique opportunities to promote their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Our curriculum provides engaging experiences for all of our children to explore the significant theological concepts within Christianity and different world religions. Lessons are carefully crafted so children can explore diverse world faiths through a variety of approaches.

We aim to immerse pupils in an enquiry approach where they can debate and make reasoned and informed judgements about the world around them, creating religiously literate individuals.

Interfaith Week 2022
We had a fantastic week learning about, and exploring the Sikh faith and traditions. Jaswinder from the 'Sikh Experience' came in to tell us about his faith. He played us some music and explained the significance of meditation. The children asked lots of questions and Jaswinder was able to explain about the origins of the Sikh faith and the Guru Granth Sahib. We also learnt some Bhangra dance. On the Thursday, one of our lovely school families came into school and applied henna patterns to our hands and cooked us some tasty treats to share.  We also looked at their photos of the Golden Temple in India, which they had just visited. As we shared the food, we all sat on the floor, with our shoes off, reminding ourselves of how Langar is shared in a Gurdwara. We thought about the importance of the values of community and equality.  Here are just a few of our many photos of this fantastic week...
