Maths is fun in Year 1- 12.9.18
Year 1 have been learning to sort, group and count objects to 10. They have been working with their learning partner to find efficient ways of counting. I was extremely impressed with the  children's Maths language this week and how they used the concrete resources to prove their understanding.
Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak- 13.9.18
In Year 1 we are beginning our English learning journey with the fantasy story 'Where The Wild Things Are' by Maurice Sendak. The children have made some good predictions about what the story could be about just by looking at some illustrations. They then used some of the illustrations to describe a story setting. We took our learning outdoors and went on a mini adventure to our own forest to describe what we might see, hear, smell and feel in a forest. The children came up with lots of exciting adjectives to describe and they are working on their sentences using these super words. Next week we will be retelling the story with actions and carrying out lots of drama to understand the characters.
